According to KFD Field Station Officer Kiran, six persons are infected with KFD virus in Thirthahalli taluk and they had been under treatment. Monkeys were found dead in various parts of the taluk.

As many as seven more persons have been found to be infected with KFD in Shivamogga district.

Meanwhile, eight monkeys were found dead at different places in Udupi. The viscera of one of them had been sent to Viral diagnostic laboratory in Shivamogga. According to doctors, there had been no known cases of KFD in Udupi so far. Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat visited KMC Hospital and enquired about the health of the patients.
