The 4th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced seven persons to five years of imprisonment on the charge of attempt to murder of two persons over personal rivalry.
The court has also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 each on all the accused.
The accused are J C B Siddique, Suleiman, Siraj, Abdul Gafoor, Haris, Abdul Sattar and B T Farooq.
They had attempted to murder Abdul Hakim and Abdul Ashraf by assaulting them. On February 23, 2014, when Hakim and Ashraf were walking near Karvelu Junction in Uppinangady, the accused abused them and assaulted them using lethal weapons.
The court has ordered to pay the fine collected as compensation to Ashraf and Hakim after paying Rs 10,000 to the court.
