Bengaluru: Mandya MLA Ravikumar Gowda (Ganiga) claimed on Friday that a virus similar to Covid-19 had surfaced in China, adding that 80 per cent of the people there had gotten back to wearing masks.
Speaking to reporters, he said: “I went to China for four days. As many as 80 per cent of the people wore masks although they haven’t been made compulsory. Sanitisers are being kept in public places.”
Noting that body temperature was being checked for children after they landed by plane, the MLA said it could either be a new virus or merely a precautionary measure.
"I came back from Hong Kong airport yesterday. Even there, everyone was wearing a mask."
