Kalaburagi: A 93-year-old woman prisoner Nagamma Annarao, who was lodged in the central jail here and was released on a three-month parole last week, died at her home in Jewargi on Friday.

She was released following the intervention of Upa Lokayukta Justice B Veerappa.

The elderly woman was not used to walking properly. Moved by her condition, Justice B Veerappa contacted the Supreme Court registrar urging a review of her sentence.

The elderly woman’s two daughters had arrived at the prison and taken her to her home on November 28. The prison’s chief superintendent R Anita had made necessary arrangements to carry her to Jewargi in the prison’s ambulance.
