The private bus shelter in Vittal is sandwitched between the autorickshaw and car stand. Amidst the congested bus stand, there are shops further aggrvating the congestion.
On one side of the bus stand is Gram Panchayat office.
Vittal is a hobli centre in Bantwal taluk, which lacks basic facilities. Those who visit Vittal for day to day activities face lot of hardship owing to the congestion.
At the same time, the rash and negligent driving by the vehicle users has put the pedestrians’ life to threat.
The residents alleged that neither the officials nor the elected representatives have made any attempt to solve the problems faced by the people.
Senior citizens say that former MLAs Rukmayya Poojary, K M Ibrahim and Padmanabha Kottari have failed to chalk out a plan for the private bus shelter. The long pending demand for a KSRTC bus shelter was conceptualised to ease the congestion in the private bus sheleter.
However, even after the inauguration of the KSRTC bus shleter, residents face problems in the private bus shelter. Owing to congested bus shelter, many a time the passengers have to bear the brunt of traffic jam.
In fact, parking of the vehicles by the vehicle users inside the bus shelter aggravtes the problem. Many a time, car and autorickshaw drivers end up in scuffle over parking lot.
The residents said that the district administration should convene a meeting to discuss on the private bus shelter in Vittal. The officials and elected representatives should attend the meeting.
All the buildings which have violated the building laws and are inside the bus shelter should be cleared. The car and the autorickshaw parking should be shifted from the bus shelter.
Only private buses should be allowed to enter the bus shleter, to reduce the congestion, the locals say.
