The third edition of the the Prajavani Kannada Cine Sammana, presented by Casa Grand, powered by Trends with the special partner as Shree Sai Gold Palace and supported by the Government of Karnataka, took off to a roaring start with the who’s who of the Kannada film industry making their presence felt. The hall was jam-packed.

Actors Shivarajkumar, Dattanna, V Ravichandran, Priyanka, Dhruva Sarja, Ramesh Aravind, Yuva Rajkumar, Vinay Rajkumar, Tara, Saikumar, Umesh, music directors Hamsalekha, Arjun Janya, directors T S Nagabharana and Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa were present. 

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that after failing some classes, he and his friends would go watch movies. “We used to watch all of Dr Rajkumar’s movies on the first day, first show. Kalpana used to be my favourite actor,” he added. 

Opposition leader R Ashoka also said that he would watch all Dr Rajkumar movies on the first day without a miss and admitted that he is a bathroom singer and loves singing. 

Veteran actor Ravichandran was honoured for “Outstanding Contribution to Kannada Cinema”. Speaking about what cinema means to him, he said, “I’m cinema, cinema is me.” Malashree and Ravichandran fondly shared their experiences of working together.

Winning the award for best cinematography for the film ‘Max’, Shekhar Chandra, spoke about working with Kiccha Sudeepa said, “It’s not difficult to frame Sudeep at all. His charisma is easy to capture, I don’t have to do anything.” ‘Max’ was mostly shot post sunset. “Shooting in the night is difficult. We shot about 110 days in the night. It’s a challenge. But we got used to it,” he added. 

Pruthvi Ambaar rendered a powerful performance as he danced to Puneeth Rajkumar’s ‘Jackie Jackie’. “Cinema filled colour into our black and white middle class lives,” said Srinidhi Bengaluru upon receiving the best debut director award for the film ‘Blink’. 

Upon winning the award for best choreography for the song ‘Dwapara’ from ‘Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi’, Shekhar Master shook a leg with actors Pooja Gandhi and Sumana Kittur and anchor Anushree.
