Police probing the murder of Abdul Rahiman have arrested one Ravi Sanjay (29) of Bettagere village in Shringeri on Thursday, taking the total arrests to eight. The accused was produced before the court.

In the wake of recent murders in Mangaluru and other parts of the state, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Monday assured that the government has taken the matter seriously and initiated decisive steps to address the escalating situation. 

A day earlier, cops arrested Abhin Rai (32) of Thenkaballuru village and Tejaksha of Badagabellur in connection with the murder case.

Deepak (21), Pruthvirah (21), Chintan (19), Acharya (27) and Raviraj (23) were also taken into custody during the initial phase of the probe by police.
