Multi-lingual actor R Dileep passed away at a private hospital here on Friday. He was 54. He was undergoing treatment for kidney failure.
He breathed his last around 3 am. He leaves behind his wife Hemavati, children Maurya and Bhavya. He had moved to Mysore recently for his children’s education and was residing at Bogadi.
The last rites will be held at the Veerashaiva burial grounds in Vidyaranyapuram in the city.
A native of Bangalore, he forayed into Kannada filmdom in 1974. He has acted in over a 100 films in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
‘Indina Ramayana,’ ‘Ondagi Baalu,’ ‘Arishina Kumkuma,’ ‘Ondu Cinema Kathe,’ ‘Thooguve Krishnana,’ ‘Onde Goodina Hakki’ and ‘Shruti’ are a few among the notable Kannada films he has acted in.
He had also shared screen space with Kamal Hassan in the 1980’s release - ‘Thoogandeya Tambi Thoogandeya’ and Rajinikanth in ‘Vali’ in 1990, attaining popularity.
