New Delhi: The Congress high command has asked the state government to put in place foolproof crowd control mechanisms for effective management of large public gatherings.
The directives follow a report submitted by the state unit to the party leadership regarding the Bengaluru stampede that claimed 11 lives.
Calling the incident "tragic, unacceptable and irreparable," the party high command has advised the state government to study available technology, including algorithm-based tech, and utilise them to avert such incidents in future.
"There are some AI-based models developed by IITs which are being effectively used for crowd control in temples that see more than a million footfalls every day. Those can be studied and put in place with immediate effect," Randeep Singh Surjewala, Congress general secretary incharge of Karnataka, told DH.
