The division bench comprising Justice K Sreedhara Rao and Justice Ravi Malimath had issued a show cause notice to the Association’s President, Secretary and Treasurer, on why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them for writing a letter to the judges asking them to refrain from damaging any case.
The reply was submitted to the Court on Friday. However, the Bench observed that the reply was addressed to the Registrar General and not the Court.
AAB President KN Puttegowda responded that the notice was served by the office of the Registrar General and hence the reply was addressed to them.
He further requested that a special sitting be convened on Saturday to hear the matter.
Directing them to address the reply to the Court, the matter was adjourned to January 5.
Direction to Yenepoya
The High Court on Friday directed Yenepoya University to admit a student into first year of MBBS. A division bench headed by Justice V Gopala Gowda directed the University to admit Kavya J S of Mangalore, by accepting the fee.
Kavya has been allotted a seat at Yenepoya by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), but later issued another letter of admission to Father Mueller medical college.
Based on the latter, she gave up her seat at Yenepoya, but Father Mueller’s college denier admission to her, as they did not have any vacant seats left.
Kavya had approached the High Court, seeking directions to be allowed to retain her seat at Yenepoya and she will be admitted as directed.
