Various parts of the state received good spell of rain on Tuesday.

Rain coupled with thunder and gusty winds lashed several villages of Guledagudda taluk of Bagalkot district for around 30 minutes. There were no reports of any loss to life or property. Farmers in the region were awaiting the showers to begin agricultural activities.

Basavanabagewadi town and surrounding places received heavy rain for more than three hours. The dried up Doni river has revived while Hirehalla stream near the town overflowed. A farmer working in his field was struck dead by lightning in Masabinala village of Basavanabagewadi taluk. The deceased has been identified as Mallappa Shivappa Kulageri (42).

Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning pounded Ballari town for more than three hours towards evening. Rainwater gushed into houses in low-lying areas. Power supply too was affected. Hosapete taluk received widespread rain for more than an hour. Koppal also received rain bringing relief for residents from scorching heat. There were reports of moderate rain in Shivamogga.

It rained heavily in Siddapur, Ankola, Honnavar, Bhatkal and Karwar in Uttara Kannada district. The district recorded a total rainfall of 315.3 mm till 8 am on Tuesday. Kumta received the highest rainfall of 134.5 mm.
Madikeri and surrounding areas in Kodagu received rain for around 20 minutes.
