Agumbe Ghat road to remain shut from April 1

Deputy Commissioner K A Dayananda has issued an order banning the movement of vehicles on Agumbe Ghat Road, the major link between the Malnad and coastal districts, from April 1 to 30 due to the repair works to be taken up to prevent landslides during the monsoon.

According to a press note issued here on Friday, the light motor vehicle will have to take Thirthahalli-Koppa-Sringeri-Malaghat-Karkala (National Highway 169) route to reach Udupi.

Similarly, heavy motor vehicles such as bullet tankers, ship cargo containers, long chassis vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles, multi-axle trucks, truck trailer and all heavy loaded goods vehicles, KSRTC buses have been directed to ply on Thirthahalli-Mastikatte-Siddapura-Kundapura route to reach Udupi (State Highway 52). The order will be in force until the works are completed.

For the convenience of students who come to schools in Agumbe, the movement of mini buses on Thirthahalli-Agumbe-Bidaragodu-Sringeri route has been permitted and regular buses can ply on Thirthahalli-Kalmane-Heggodu-Kammaradi-Sringeri route.
