New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav on Friday informed Lok Sabha that establishment of an AIIMS in Karnataka has not been approved.
Replying questions raised by Congress Lok Sabha members G Kumara Nayak and E Tukaram, the minister said that under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), establishment of 22 All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) has been approved in various states in the country so far.
However, establishment of an AIIMS in Karnataka has not been approved, the minister said in his written answer. Karnataka government has been urging the Centre to set up AIIMS at Raichur.
