The pilot of a two-seater aircraft had a narrow escape, when he was forced to make an emergency landing, following a technical glitch, at Srinivasa camp in Kurugodu on Monday.

Ramesh Rau, the pilot, was flying from Solapur to Bangalore when the incident occurred. The flight was supposed to land in Bellary for a technical examination. On noticing the glitches even before it could reach Bellary, the pilot safely landed the flight at the camp near a rocky hill.

The front wheel of the 270-kg aerial vehicle has been damaged, he said. It was a rare spectacle for people from nearby villages to see an aeroplane from close quarters. A large number of people gathered to see the plane being carried to Bangalore on a truck.

Police and the Home Guards took the necessary precautions to shift the plane.
