Most of the candidates contesting the elections are landowners with cattle and livestock. But, M H Amaranath alias Ambareesh, Congress candidate for Mandya is an expection. He owns a horse. And according to the affidavit he has filed while submitting his nominations, it is worth Rs 1.75 lakhs.
Also, his wife, Sumalatha is richer than him. While Rs 89.2 lakh is the worth of all movable assets registered in his name, his wife has movable assets worth Rs 2.20 crore.
He has a total of Rs 51.4 lakh in two bank accounts; has loaned Rs 21.25 lakh; and has jewellery worth Rs three lakh. His wife has Rs 1.84 crore in seven bank accounts, has a car worth Rs 11.3 lakh and the total worth of her jewellery is close to Rs 14 lakh.
Ambareesh is better off his wife when it comes to immovable assets. While the total worth of his immovable assets is Rs 91.37 lakh, Rs 21.72 lakh is the worth immovable assets owned by Sumalatha.
Sumalatha is also the sole debtor among the two, as she is yet to repay Rs 5.74 lakh taken as loan from different individuals.
A ‘gifted’ doctor
Dr H C Mahadevappa, Congress candidate from T Narsipur constituency, has Rs 3.23 lakh in a single bank account while having only Rs 14,000 in hand.
Apart from owning a vehicle worth Rs 13.22 lakh, he also owns 490 gram of gold worth Rs 13.72 lakh, and 500 gram of silver.
His wife, Vinodha Mahadevamma, has 1.38 kg of gold, estimated at Rs 38.64 lakh, which according to the affidavit was ‘received as gift during marriage from her parents’.
All of the electronic devices at his residence was received as ‘gift’. Gifts include one refrigerator, one video player, two air-conditioners, three television sets and a computer.
The total worth of all his movable assets is Rs 31.15 lakh, while his wife has movable assets worth Rs 40.6 lakh.
The total worth of all his immovable assets, including agricultural land and apartments is Rs 57 lakh. He, according to the affidavit, owes Rs 9.31 lakh as loan.
