This is, perhaps, a reflection of the apathy on the part of government departments in disposing of documents and files in a scientific manner.

Heaps of files pertaining to the Devanahalli and Varthur hoblis of Bengaluru rural district were on Sunday found dumped under a bridge built across the Veeravaishnavi river near Bellur Cross in the taluk.

Among the documents found disposed of are the village map of Bhoganahalli in Varthur hobli. Details of government land disbursed to some people have been recorded on the back of the map.

There were aso letters from the office of the senior sub-registrar of Rajajinagar, Bengaluru and passbooks of various banks in Bengaluru in the heap. The Bellur police have taken the files and documents into their possession.

Mandya Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nagabhushan said that they would examine the documents and bring the matter to the notice of senior officials of the Revenue department.
