Chikkamagaluru: Anasuya Devi Sankirthana Yatra was organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal in Chikkamagaluru on Thursday, on the occasion of Anasuya Jayanthi.
The Sankirthana Yatra commenced on foot from the premises of the Bolarameshwara Temple, passing through IG Road and Ratnagiri Road's Shriram Temple, and reached the Kamadhenu Ganapati Temple.
Over a thousand women participated wearing saffron shawls around their necks and holding portraits of Anasuya Devi. Legislative Council member C T Ravi was also present. Subsequently, they proceeded by vehicles to the Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudangiri Swami Dargah, where they performed Anasuya Devi Puja, Ganapati Puja, Durga Homa, and Kalashabhisheka.
Despite light rain and cold weather, they continued in sequence to have a darshan of Datta Paduke.
Police provided tight security throughout the Sankirthana Yatra. A procession is scheduled for Friday, and on Saturday where devotees will visit the Shri Guru Dattatreya Bababudangiri Swami Dargah, to have a glimpse of ‘Datta Paduke’.
