A stray leopard was run over by an unidentified vehicle on Mysuru-Bengaluru highway, near T M Hosur Gate, under K Shettyhalli Reserve Forest, in the taluk, on Friday night. The body of a female leopard was found on the highway during early hours of Saturday. Range Forest Officer Munikrishna said, the animal might have strayed into the area in search of water.

Organ failure
According to veterinarian Dr Anand Kumar, who conducted post-mortem on the animal, it has died due to multiple organ failure. He said, the gall bladder and the left leg of the leopard have been severely damaged.

The body of the animal was burnt at K Shettyhalli forest. Assistant Conservator of Forests G Y Raju is investigating the case. It may be mentioned that a week ago, a six-year-old male leopard had died about 150 meters away from the spot after it was hit by a vehicle.
