Vaishali Kotabagi, a native of Goudawada village in Hukkeri taluk, is the victim.

"We had admitted Vaishali to the labour ward at the district hospital on Saturday. She delivered a baby girl through C-section. Her condition was stable till 7 am on Sunday. After which, Vaishali complained of chest pain. She was rushed to the ICU after her condition worsened. Timely intervention by doctors could have saved her life," complained Eravva, mother-in-law of Vaishali.

Meanwhile, BIMS director Dr Ashok Kumar Shetty told DH, "Vaishali's condition was stable till Sunday morning. The duty doctors treated her for chest pain. They tried their best to save her. But Vaishali died of heart-related ailments."

He said, "Following the complaint by the relatives of the patient, I have ordered an enquiry. I will initiate disciplinary action against the doctors concerned, if found guilty of medical negligence."
