The Karnataka State Performing Arts Graduates’ Federation has written to the Governor Vajubhai Vala, urging that an expert in the field be appointed the vice chancellor of Dr Gangubai Hangal University of Music and Performing Arts.
In the letter, the students have said that only an expert would have knowledge about several issues of the university.
“The request is made because running a general university is different from running a subject-based university. It is necessary for the person who takes over to be aware of the requirements of the university where the main focus is performing arts,” the letter read.
They said the previous VCs had failed to do justice to the university. “There were VCs from other subjects who failed to achieve much as they lacked knowledge,” students added.
