Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s observations about the felicitation event for RCB at the Vidhana Soudha having passed off without disruption evoked a sharp rebuke from Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H D Kumaraswamy.
“Are you the CM of the entire state or merely of the steps leading to the Vidhana Soudha,” asked Kumaraswamy in a post on ‘X’.
Lashing out at the CM for passing the buck and holding the police responsible for the stampede at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, Kumaraswamy wrote, “Why are you trying to escape by blaming the opposition and police?”
In the face of a crisis, the CM had become a mere spectator to the pain and suffering of the people, mocked the Union Minister.
Siddaramaiah on Sunday admitted that he had given his nod for the felicitation ceremony held on the steps of the Vidhana Soudha.
The CM had further added that he had attended the event at the stadium at the invitation of the Karnataka State Cricket Association.
“The stampede happened at the stadium,” the chief minister said.
