Sanniramma (45) had obtained Rs 10,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 5,000 from three micro finance institutions Sheru, Spandana and Basic respectively.

Villagers said she had almost cleared the loan amount barring one last installment. However, arm-twisting tactics of the institutions forced her to commit suicide, villagers said.

The suicide came to light when a body was found floating in a well in the village. Sanniramma is survived by her husband and two sons.

Pavagad police have registered a case.It can be recalled that the Andhra Pradesh government recently enacted a law after six people committed suicide which prevents micro finance institutions from resorting to arm-twisting tactics to recover their loans.
