Chairman of Karnataka Lalithakala Academy C S Krishna Shetty said art camps should also be a part of Suttur mutt’s activities.
Speaking at the inaugural function of drawing, kite-flying and lamp decoration competitions, as part of Suttur Jatra Mahotsava here on Sunday, he said, practising art forms increases one’s sensibility towards environment.
Shetty noted along with all unique activities being part of the jatra, the mutt should conduct art camps for students, which increase their interest towards arts.
MLA H S Shankaralinge Gowda opined that Suttur seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji, who has done a revolution in field of education and ‘anna dasoha’ (mass feeding) is eligible for a honorary doctorate.
He said, the Suttur seer has executed innumerable developmental works, which benefits all classes of society and thus he has to be conferred with a honorary doctorate.
MLC C H Vijayashankar observed that each and every politician, as well as officers of India, should visit Australia which is unaware of corruption and other illegal activities.
Reminiscing his recent visit to the country, he said, he was astonished by its progress. “Unemployment, terrorism, corruption, which are burning issues in India have not touched Australians. Education to all categories of people has made the country’s development reach new heights,” he said.
MP A H Vishwanath pointed out that fairs are not only filled with activities, but also soothe one’s mind thereby cleansing off the impurities of the world. He stated that politics should be incorporated with moralities and never should politics ruin ‘dharma.’
