The Revenue department has shortlisted 11 places for opening of new offices of assistant commissioners, taking the total number of such offices to 63 in the State.

Replying to a query by C S Nadagouda (Congress) in the Legislative Assembly, Revenue Minister V Sreenivas Prasad said the new offices of assistant commissioners (ACs) had been based on the recommendations made by the four regional commissioners.

The 11 new AC offices proposed include Devanahalli, Harihar, Challakere, Mulbagal, Chamarajnagar, Udupi, Basavana Bagewadi / Muddbihal, Ranebennur, Hungund, Ron and Gangavathi.

In reply to a question by Govind Karjol (BJP), Water Resources Minister M B Patil said the cost of land acquisition, besides rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) for the Upper Krishna Project Stage-3 would require Rs 30,000 crore as per the provisions of the new Land Acquisition Act.

The government had fixed the cost of land acquisition and R&R at Rs 5,690 crore as per the provisions of the older version of the Act, the minister said.
The UKP-3 proposes to utilise 130 tmc ft of Krishna water with an irrigation potential of 9.5 lakh acres.

The project involves raising the height of Alamatti dam to 524 metres. It would result in the submergence of 30 villages.

The project involves lift irrigation schemes at Mulwad, Chimmalagi, Indi, extension of the Narayanapura Right Bank Canal and Bhima diversion plan, among others. The project would primarily benefit Kalaburagi district.
