Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday passed a conditional interim order in a petition filed by Anuradha, the second wife of former underworld don N Muthappa Rai, in connection with an FIR registered against her relating to the attack on Muthappa’s son, Ricky Rai.
The court has directed the Bidadi police not to summon her without following due process of law.
The petitioner, Anuradha, has challenged the FIR registered by the Bidadi police on April 19 for offences under sections 109 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as Section 25 of the Arms Act.
“Respondent No 1 (Bidadi police) shall not take any coercive action against the petitioner, till the next date of hearing, subject to the petitioner’s co-operation with the investigation,” Justice Hemant Chandanagoudar stated in the order, while directing the police to proceed with the investigation in accordance with the law.
The complainant, G Basavaraju, who is Ricky's driver, stated that assailants attacked their car and also shot at Ricky.
Anuradha has been named as Accused No 2 in the complaint.
In her petition, Anuradha contended that the proceedings against her are not maintainable as the complaint contains no allegations against her. She further claimed that although there were disputes between her and Ricky, they were purely civil in nature. Additionally, she stated that all such disputes had been settled between October and December 2024 through a compromise decree.
According to the petitioner, the complaint was filed with malicious intent solely to harass her.
