Public Works Department Minister H D Revanna, who toured Australia recently, on Saturday said that the Mysuru-Bengaluru and the Hubballi-Belagavi roads will be developed on the lines of Australia.
Revanna said the Australian government has adopted the best technology for laying of highways, road safety and management of property. The passengers will not be tired even if they travel 500 km a day. There are no potholes on roads and trucks travel at a speed of 90 km per hour in Australia, he added.
"I had a discussion with the officials concerned and a detailed project report will be submitted to the government soon. I will ask Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to allocate funds for the project in the upcoming budget. Out of Rs 4,500 crore of the State Highways, Rs 300 crore will be diverted for such projects, if possible,” Revanna said in a press conference here.
The overall Mysuru-Bengaluru project costs Rs 6,000 crore, including compensation to the farmers, he said.
Later, participating in a flower show, Revanna said a section of the media reported that Thippeswamy, who belongs to Kuruba community, will be appointed as an MLC as he is close to JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda’s family
"Thippeswamy has worked for people of all communities. It is our responsibility to identify and honor the people, who serve the society,” he said.
