Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs, M Venkaiah Naidu, on Friday, emphasised the need for going back to the period of cultural renaissance and returning to our roots.
Naidu was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the hospital block of the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Metabolic Disorders at Manavarthe Kaval in Uttarahalli. He said that AYUSH is a treasure house of knowledge of medicine. The minister said, “Diversity, compatibility, acceptability and affordability are the plus points of AYUSH. We have to get back to our roots and bring back cultural renaissance in the country.”
He said lifestyles have changed leading to a number of diseases and AYUSH is the answer to combat such disorders. “A country cannot move forward if it forgets its past. Bringing back the traditional systems of medicine into mainstream is necessary. Ayurveda is key to universal healthcare,” said Naidu. He also promised every assistance for the institute’s progress.
Union Minister of State for AYUSH and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Shripad Yesso Naik said the government has entered into an agreement with the World Health Organization to popularize Ayurveda across the world. It is making all possible efforts to promote Ayurveda. The goal of achieving a healthy population is to be met through the AYUSH, he added.
