The three-day Bahuroopi Street Play Fest began on Saturday, as a prelude to the six-day Bahuroopi National Theatre Fest of Rangayana, which will begin on January 14.
Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner Ashad Ur Rehman Sharieff inaugurated it, along with Rangayana director Sathish Tiptur, Joint Director for Kannada and Culture V N Mallikarjunaswamy, and Deputy Director M D Sudarshan near Chikka Gadiyara (Dufferin Clock Tower) in Mysuru on Saturday.
Mahabelaku troupe performed a street play near the Dufferin Clock Tower, Church Circle and Kesare.
On Sunday, Desi Ranga troupe will perform a street play near Srirampura, Vivekananda Nagar and Andolana Circle. Gauthama Cultural Trust will perform a street play near Halli Bogadi, Hinkal and Hootgalli.
On Monday, Anikethana Kala Balaga will perform a street play near Metagalli, Surya Bakery and Kumbarkoppal. Arunodaya Art troupe will perform near Nanju Malige, Ashokapuram and Chamundipuram.
Dean of CAVA and Commissioner of Department of Archeology, Heritage and Museums A Devaraju inaugurated a three-day painting workshop, as part of Bahuroopi, at B V Karantha Ranga Chavadi at Rangayana premises on Saturday.
During the workshop, students of CAVA and Kalanikethana Art School will come up with paintings reflecting the theme of Bahuroopi - ‘Liberation, Social Justice, Movements and Theatre’. Devaraju said, “Liberation is a mindset. One can achieve that state of mind with good education, maturity and broad thinking.”
