Bakrid celebrated with gaiety and gusto

Thousands of members of Muslim community celebrated Bakrid by offering special prayers to mark the day. Prayers were offered at Idgah grounds in the districts during the festival which is a symbol of sacrifice and devotion to Muslims around the world.

In Mysore, prayers were offered at the four Idgah Grounds and other important mosques in the city. The celebrations remained peaceful in the region and adequate police security was provided at various places of worship.

Muslims were seen exchanging greetings by hugging each other, according to Islamic traditions. 

Sacrificial rituals related to the festival were also performed. Business establishments belonging to members of Muslim community remained closed owing to Bakrid celebrations.Qazis or spiritual leaders of various districts led the prayer sessions and spoke on the importance and message of the festival.
