Bal Mandir scandal: Govt takes multiple actions

A day after flesh trade scandal using four minors of Bal Mandir came to light in Chikkaballapur, the government on Friday effected multiple actions.

Bal Mandir superintendent Nagabhushanachari has been suspended. An order has been issued to relieve outsourced staff.In Bengaluru, Chief Secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar reportedly held a meeting with DWCD secretary and KSICPS planning director asking them to submit a report.

DWCD secretary Mohan issued a circular directing district inspection committees to inspect every Bal Mandir and submit about the status
before April 9. He mandated compulsory weekly inspections directing the concerned to obtain background verification report of the outsourced staff from the police.

Bal Mandir superintendents and counsellors should frequently conduct counselling sessions with inmates and submit reports before 10th of every month. In case of inmates going missing, a complaint should be lodged within 24 hours. District Nodal officers should ensure safety of inmates at Bal Mandirs and submit a report before April 15, he stated in the circular.
