Udupi: Bannanje Raja, a notorious gangster who was arrested in Morocco in 2015 and lodged at Belagavi’s Hindalga Central Jail has been granted parole to attend the funeral of his father Sundar in Udupi.
Udupi Superintendent of Police Dr Arun K said that following the death of his father, Bannanje Raja who is currently lodged in Hindalga Jail, applied for emergency parole before the High Court. The court granted him parole from May 3 to 14, under strict conditions.
As per the court’s directives, Raja is prohibited from engaging in any criminal activities with the help of his associates. He is also barred from using mobile phones or the internet. Apart from attending the cremation, he is not allowed to step outside the house during the parole period. The SP said that he will be escorted back to Hindalga Prison after May 14.
