Belagavi: Burglars, in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, looted cash from SBI ATM by cutting its chest with gas cutter at Sambra village in Belagavi taluk on Belagavi-Bagalkot road.
Burglars who had come armed with gas cutters opened the chest of the ATM from one side where it was locked and made away with the entire cash in it. Details of amount stolen was yet to be known.
An ATM loot from such a place wherein the streets are full of people and vehicles round the clock has come as a surprise.
Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang visited the spot and took stock of the situation.
Bank officials informed about the chest and how it was cut to unlock.
Marihal police are currently investigating the case.
