Bengaluru: A brief verbal scuffle erupted at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting after Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar made a comment on Belagavi, according to multiple sources.

Apparently, Shivakumar was underlining the importance of ministers taking initiative on constructing new party offices in districts. He cited the example of Woman and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar initiative in building a new party office in Belagavi.

Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi, the minister in charge of Belagavi, is said to have taken exception by pointing out that he and other leaders from the region had not contributed to the new party office there.

The sharp response by Satish also came in the backdrop of reports that he was upset for being “sidelined” by Shivakumar during the CWC meeting held in Belagavi last month.
