At least 10 professors at Bangalore University (BU) have resigned from the additional responsibilities assigned to them. They alleged discrimination against Dalit community professors in the allotment of such administrative roles.

In a letter to the Registrar (Administration) of the university, they stated, "While giving additional administrative responsibilities, it is just mentioned as 'in-charge', and also trying to avoid the Earned Leaves credited to our accounts. Despite repeated requests regarding this, there was no response from the university authorities. Hence, we are all submitting resignations for the additional responsibilities given to us."

Prof C Somashekar, Director, Ambedkar Research Centre; Nagesh PC, Director, Student Welfare; Sudesh V, Co-ordinator, PM-USHA; and Muralidhar BL, Director, Distance Education and Online Education Centre are among those who have given up their posts.
