The project is estimated to cost Rs 600 crore. Slated to be complete by August 2012, the project will have apartments of two, three and four bedrooms configuration with penthouses at the 13th and 14th floors. The complex which will have 29 towers in seven blocks will be set within green, open spaces.
Briefing reporters, Project Director Colonel D M Puirvimath said: “we’ve taken several green initiatives for the project. We’ll have waste water management, rain water harvesting, solar lighting and heating.”
After laying the foundation stone for the project along with the Chief of Army Staff General V K Singh, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said: “We have decided to waive off development charge amounting to an estimated Rs 1 crore to be paid to the BDA and jawans will also get a 50 per cent rebate on property tax.” Yeddyurappa said that the government will consider the request of the armed forces to provide land for similar projects in Mysore, Hubli, Bidar, Mangalore, Dharwad, Bijapur and Bagalkot.
He added that the Rs 12 crore war memorial at the Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain will be complete in the next 12 months and the government is in the process of finalising land for another memorial in the State.
