Bengaluru: Kalasipalya police have arrested two more people in connection with a case where a bag containing explosives was dropped off at a bus stand in the city, officials said on Saturday.
The arrested are Shivakumar, 31, and Naveen, 33, both from Kolar.
Police said the duo procured the gelatin sticks from their source, which has been identified, and sold it to people who would use them illegally in quarries, digging wells, etc.
Officials said the two have confessed to selling the explosives to a few others previously. With this, the total arrests in the case have risen to five.
The Kalasipalya police registered the case after six gelatin sticks and 12 detonators were found on July 23 in a bag near the toilet at the BMTC bus stand, Kalasipalyam.
Police and the bomb squad arrived at the spot and recovered the explosive substances. They found that the gelatin sticks and the detonators were packed separately.
Police arrested Ganesh HM, 28, Muniraju, 38, and Shivakumar, 32, from different parts of Kolar and who were working in quarries.
During the investigation, they found that they dropped the bag after mistaking the BMTC staff wearing khaki uniforms for police.
