Raichur: Three members of a family died on Tuesday after they consumed vegetables which had been sprayed with pesticides in Kaddoni Timmapur village of Sirawar taluk in Raichur district.

The victims have been identified as Ramesh Nayak (38) and his daughters Nagamma (8) and Deepa (6). Nayak's wife Padma (35) has been admitted to Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences and her condition is said to be critical. The couple's two other children, Krishna (12) and Chaitra (10), are recovering. 

Nayak had grown cotton in his two acres of farm land and also vegetables for domestic consumption. He sprayed pesticides on the vegetable crops on Saturday. The family consumed some of these vegetables on Monday after which they started vomiting.
