The police said the victim is a 15-year-old girl studying in Class 9.

On Saturday, she quarrelled with her parents, who reside in the Rajajinagar police station limits, and left home.

Her parents approached the Rajajinagar police and lodged a missing person complaint. The police tracked down the girl and discovered that she had been sexually assaulted.

The suspect had allegedly lured her to a secluded spot in the Majestic area and committed the offence, a police officer said.

A case was registered under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

“Since the offence occurred in the Majestic area, the case is being transferred to the Upparpet police station due to jurisdiction,” a police investigator told DH. “Further investigation will be carried out by them.”
