"We have drawn up several programms to mark the event", tourism minister G Janardhana Reddy told reporters after chairing a cabinet sub-committee meeting on the issue.

The government has also planned celebrations across the state by organising road shows in all district headquarters, besides a major function in Bangalore on November 3, he said.

There are also plans to invite heads of various nations for the event, a decision that would be placed before the cabinet meeting for approval, he said.
About 31 persons are being trained as guides on the historical and religious places of the state, he said.

Reddy said the government was also thinking of developing a garden in over 80 acres at the Kannada University campus in Bellary to attract tourists.
