Bengaluru: A 58-year-old man named Kumar Babu was killed in a serial crash at Sadahalli Gate on the Kempegowda International Airport Road on Wednesday morning.
An officer from the Chikkajala traffic police station said the incident occurred around 6 am, when vehicles were slowing down and stopping at a red light. “Vehicles had stopped at the signal, waiting for it to turn green. An Eicher vehicle coming from behind rammed into a Hyundai i20 car, pushing it into five other vehicles in front,” the officer said.
While other vehicles sustained only body damage, the passengers in the i20 — Babu and his wife Varalakshmi (60) — suffered severe injuries. “They were on their way from their home in MCECHS Layout to attend a puja along with their son and driver. The Eicher driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene. We have launched a hunt to trace him,” the officer added.
