Bengaluru: A special operation by the Bengaluru North Division police has led to the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of a significant amount of narcotic substances, including MDMA, charas, and ganja.
Acting on intelligence reports about the sale of ganja in areas like J C Nagar, Hebbal, R T Nagar, and Jalahalli, police launched a coordinated special operation. The raids were conducted over several days, resulting in a series of arrests and seizures.
On August 6, near an apartment in Sultanpalya, RT Nagar, one person was detained. From his possession, police seized 3 kg 330 g of ganja, 278 g of MDMA, one two-wheeler, three mobile phones, and Rs 69,100 in cash.
On August 7, near a vacant plot by the railway track in Hebbal, one person was detained. From his possession, police seized 1 kg 287 g of ganja and one two-wheeler.
On August 9, near Indira Canteen, MRS Palya, JC Nagar, one person was detained. From his possession, police seized 600 g of ganja and Rs 1,200 in cash.
On August 10, near HMT Quarters, Jalahalli, three persons were detained. From their possession, police seized 991 g of ganja and 75 g of charas.
The police said that in total, six persons were taken into custody in this special operation. Upon interrogation, they confessed that, to earn more money, they had been purchasing ganja, charas, and MDMA at low prices from two unknown persons and selling them at higher prices.
From this operation, the police seized a total of 6 kg 208 g of ganja, 278 g of MDMA, 75 g of charas, two two-wheelers, three mobile phones, Rs 69,100 in cash, three weighing machines, and other items.
All six accused were produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody. The two unknown persons who supplied the ganja are absconding, and efforts are on to trace them. The investigation is ongoing.
