The police on Monday arrested a gang of four and recovered red sander logs worth Rs 10 lakh from them.
The arrested are Govindaraju (36), Saravana (23), Manjunath (25) and Govindaraju (30), from Salem and Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, who were caught near the Tin Factory while they were heading towards Tamil Nadu.
Inquiries by the Mahadevapura police revealed that the suspects had received the consignment from their contacts in Andhra Pradesh and were heading to Tamil Nadu to hand it over to a person there.
In another case, the Girinagar police arrested two persons from Tamil Nadu and recovered red sanders worth Rs 5 lakh from them on August 28.
The duo was driving an SUV loaded with red sanders and waiting at Seetha Circle in Banashankari 3rd Stage to hand it over to their contact. An ASI who was on night rounds, caught the duo while they were waiting for their contact Siddique Pasha.
