Bengaluru’s Namma Metro is thinking big — really big. Here’s everything you need to know about the 72-km corridor that could change how the city moves (and plays!).
Get ready for a record-breaker! BMRCL’s new corridor will stretch 72 km, making it the longest line ever planned under Namma Metro.
The line will connect Kalena Agrahara on Bannerghatta Road all the way to Kadugodi Tree Park near Whitefield, touching some of Bengaluru’s busiest and fastest-growing areas.
This corridor reads like a tour of the city’s IT heartland — Bannerghatta, Jigani, Attibele, Sarjapur, Dommasandra Circle, and Varthur Kodi — linking homes, offices, and startups in one go.
Here’s the exciting part: a 3.5–4 km branch line will connect directly to the upcoming international sports complex in Anekal. So yes, you might someday take the Metro straight to a cricket match!

The sports complex will feature an 80,000-seat cricket stadium, arenas for 24 indoor and outdoor sports, and even a 30,000-seater auditorium. Think of it as Bengaluru’s answer to an Olympic village.
The groundwork’s already done. A Delhi-based firm has completed the feasibility report, covering everything from routes and land needs to ridership and costs.
BMRCL will submit its feasibility report by October-end and move on to the Detailed Project Report (DPR) — the big blueprint for turning plans into reality.
Metro projects take time — and this one’s massive. If all goes well, construction could start around 2029 and wrap up in five to ten years. Patience, Bengaluru!
This corridor will include both underground and elevated stretches — over 50 stations in total. Since much of the region is still developing, stations will be spaced out more than usual.
This isn’t just a one-off project. It’s part of BMRCL’s 210.9-km expansion plan, which will take Bengaluru’s metro network to 467.69 km — nearly matching Delhi-NCR’s.
Namma Metro isn’t just building lines; it’s laying down the Bengaluru’s future! Connecting where we live, work, and soon, where we cheer!
