Bengaluru: An elderly woman died in an accident after a tipper lorry struck her while she was walking back home after offering prayers at a church on Friday.
The deceased, Mary Victoria, aged 83, sustained grievous injuries to her abdomen and was taken to the hospital for treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries at 5.45 pm.
The accident occurred while she was walking back to her residence at Ramamurthy Nagar from the church, around 1.30 pm. While crossing the road at Richmond Road near Fatima Bakery, a tipper lorry reportedly hit her and ran over her. The lorry driver couldn’t see her as she emerged from a blind spot, the Ashoknagar Traffic Police reported. The police also said that the driver was not driving rashly.
A case has been registered and the driver has been taken into custody for further investigation.
