Hundreds of infected chickens have been culled by the animal husbandry department in Dasarahalli and Yelahanka zone to contain the deadly bird flu.
"A total of 942 chickens in the infected zone have been culled and disposed of. Sanitation and disinfection is in progress," said Dr Ramesh V, assistant director, BBMP, Yelahanka zone.
"In order to prevent further spreading of the H5N1 virus, we have culled these birds and also shut down all poultry-related shops in the infected and surveillance zones," he said.
Ramesh said the situation is under control and there is no need for panic.
