Dastkar, in partnership with Delhi Tourism, is organising the ‘Dastkar Fun Fest’ to celebrate the winter festive season. Focusing especially on the children this time, the festival will offer an interactive programme of traditional crafts workshops, fun activities and entertainment. Craftsmen from across the country will come under one platform to teach young kids about the traditional art and craft of particular states.
Not only craftsmen, but NGOs dealing with social development and few small scale entrepreneurs who are working on innovative designs will interact with kids. They will also put up stalls by handcrafted items, special range of children’s garment, decorative especially for kids, toys and children books. More so, kids will get to know more about natural product.
There will workshops which will range from pottery and folk-art painting to making recycled newspaper items and play kits. They will learn to make gift items for Christmas and New Year celebration. To keep kids engaged, there will be magic shows, movies, story-telling sessions, puppet shows and music sessions for the young crowd to participate.
To keep the parents engrossed, the festival will offer an incredible range of handcrafted products made from natural fibres (banana, cane, bamboo, golden grass, jute and wood), textiles (weaves, block prints, embroideries, patchwork appliqué, garments and soft furnishings), folk jewellery, toys, leather, pottery, painting, home accessories, gift and decorative items.
All in all Dastkar Fun Fest will be a dynamic, vibrant and fun day out for all the family! Dastkar is a national NGO working with crafts and craftspeople for over three decades. It works for social and economic empowerment and earning. Partnering with Delhi Tourism, it is developing the Nature Bazaar venue in Andheria Modh as a craft and cultural hub.
The festival will commence from December 20 and continue till 29 at the Nature Bazaar venue, Kisan Haat, Andheria Modh, near Chhatarpur Metro Station. Timings are 11 am to 7 pm. On December 20, the festival will open at 3 pm.
