Bengaluru: Kamakshi Devi, an Amazon employee and a double graduate, was among those who died in the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.

Devi was the daughter of S Murthy who runs an educational trust in Coimbatore.

She completed BTech in Electronics and Instrumentation in her hometown and moved to Bengaluru to pursue a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialisation in operations management and business analytics.

After a short stint at Tata Trent, she moved to Amazon, where she held many responsibilities over the last five years. Before her death, she held the role of quality specialist. She lived in Ramamurthy Nagar.

Her cousin Veerabahu T said three co-workers went to the RCB event after taking half a day’s leave on Wednesday.

“They were trying to enter the Chinnaswamy stadium after Gate 7 was opened to the public. In a fraction of a second, the crowd surged and the trio separated. Her friends came to know about the death only later,” he said.

Veerabahu spent the night at Bowring Hospital as Devi’s parents lived in Coimbatore. They were in tears after seeing the lifeless body on Thursday evening. “She loved watching cricket and the RCB team, but may have gone to the stadium with friends just for the fun of watching players closely,” he said.
