The train commemorates the 150 birth centenary of Swami Vivekananda by presenting facets of his life, his teachings and his extraordinary relationship with Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.
Visitors can see a range of pictures accompanied by stories of Vivekananda from his birth in 1902 as Narendranath Dutta to his stay in Raipur for two years, which was considered as a turning point in his life.
Pictures of his ancestral house, the Belur Math also figure in the exhibition.
The exhibition also explains his teachings, his introduction of the various belief streams under the umbrella of Hinduism to a Western audience and also his association with Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, who helped him deal with his conflict about God.
The train will be stationed at the Cantonment station on Platform No 3 (entry from Jayamahal Road) for the next two days and will be open to the public from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm. Visitors to the train need not buy platform tickets and there is no entry fee.
The train will later leave for Ashokpuram station in Mysore, where it will be on display from June 21 to 24.
