On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Rotary Bangalore Lakeside gave the Ibblur Park a makeover.

They planted saplings and also launched a composter at the park. There were over 400 people present at the event. Everyone took part in the cleaning of the park and the roads around.

Plastics were collected and trees were painted. The chairs and surrounding areas were painted with bright colours and the park got a vibrant new look.

The chief guests, planted saplings by the roadside too, to highlight the need for a greener future.

However, the highlight of the event was the launch of a new app — ‘RideAlly’ — a carpooling and shared taxi app that aims at reducing the traffic in the City.

The CEO of RideAlly, Hariprakash Agarwal, is a past president of the club and said that the app assures one’s safety. He mentioned that it provides an option to women to travel with other women, which is one of the ways in which it promotes safety.

The social work done by the club was appreciated by everyone present.

The works of Rotarians Anantha Bhat and Ashok Dube, who strived hard to make the park a beautiful abode complete with a laughter club, a joggers’ lane among other facilties, were acknowledged.
