Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday raided the house of a BBMP official who was caught red-handed taking a Rs 20 lakh bribe last month.

ACB sleuths swooped down on the residence of S N Devendrappa, Assistant Director, Town Planning, BBMP, in the C Sector of Amruthnagar. They also searched the house of his aide Srinivasmurthy at Gupta Layout, Halasuru.

Officials said they found “incriminating” documents pertaining to the bribery case. On February 5, Devendrappa was caught allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from a person for issuing the occupancy certificate to a building constructed by a private company in Hulimavu. The same day, officials found about 50 files related to the case in his car.

On February 8, the ACB raided Devandrappa’s properties, reportedly seizing 120 litres of liquor and 430 files belonging to the BBMP’s town planning department.

During the raid on Tuesday, officials said they found the documents of a residential building in Kempegowda Layout, four cars, a two-wheeler, Rs 25 lakh in bank lockers, Rs 45 lakh deposited in bank accounts and Rs 10 lakh worth of household articles.

While the ACB is carrying out further verification of the seized documents, the excise department has registered a separate case over the liquor bottles.
